MINI - KING OF THE
MOUNTAIN
A race for Charity.
Time for a new race!
The first King of the Mountain race was a great success!
The second King of the Mountain race was sadly rained out but fear not, this year you will have two King of the Mountains to look forward to.
This April will be the first challenge. The Mini - King of the Mountain, taking place in the beautiful seaside, Expo city, Yeosu. The second and much more challenging King of the Mountain will be held some time during the fall.
The First Challenge:
Do you think you can race over
a small mountain? How about two of them?
The challenge is on. To run from the base of Horang San (호랑산) over two mountain peaks and down to the beautiful temple surrounds of Heung Guk Sa (흥국사) and claim the title of "Mini - King
of the Mountain!"
The race will take you from near sea
level, almost vertically up to 425 meters above sea level, then
across a ridge, throught a valley and onto a second climb, to the second peak of 430m and down the other side,
finishing about 6 kilometers later, in the beautiful temple
surroundings of Heung Guk Sa.
There will be an entrance fee of
W2000, with all proceeds going towards the Ngumbulu Project. This year the profits of both races will go to a group trying to raise money to support a village and school in drought ravaged Kenya. A group of 6 from Korea have just returned from volunteering in Kenya, and wish to return again to help the children and families in need. This project is not related to or funded by any organization, but is acheived simply through the efforts of caring people who want to make a difference.
They need your help.
To read more about what they have acheived and their recent trip, please visit their blog: http://ngumbulu.wordpress.com/.
At the end of the race, a trophy will be given for 1st place, and a
certificate for all who enter. Although sponsorship is not mandatory,
a prize will also be given for the person who raises the most money
for the Ngumbulu Project.
Even if you don't think you're up for the
challenge of racing over a mountain, please join in and do a "fun
run / walk" with your friends. It will be a great way to meet some new people and have an enjoyable day out in some beautiful nature.
9th April 2011 (Weather permitting)
Check-in will be from
9am.
The race will start at 10am.
